Oral Picture 9
This picture depicts a scene at a flight of staircase. This staircase may be in a school as the children using it are in uniform. The staircase may also be the central staircase as there are many people using it at the same time.
Scenario (wrong and consequence)
A boy is rushing down the flight of stairs in a streak of lightning. He may be playing catching with his friends as he has a frantic look on his face. He has knocked into a woman, who may be a teacher, carrying a pile of books and the books are falling down the stairs. He is heading towards man, who also may be a teacher, holding a hot beverage in his hand.
I think that we should not rush up or down the stairs at a fast speed as it is potentially dangerous. We may lose our balance and tumble down the stairs. The consequences are dire. Moreover, we may knock into others who are also using the stairs, causing them to fall too. Not only must we spare a thought for ourselves, we must also spare a thought for other users.
The boy should have anticipated the consequences of his inconsiderate and dangerous act.
In this situation, the boy may knock into the teacher holding the hot beverage. Both of them may be scalded by the hot beverage if the boy does not stop in time. I hope that the teachers can reprimand the boy heavily for his perilous act. The boy should act more prudently in the future.
The female teacher, who the boy has knocked into, has beads of perspiration glistening on her forehead. She may be startled by the abrupt knock of the boy.
There are two students, a boy and girl, dashing towards the teacher and helping to pick up the books. I applaud their initiative to step forward to help the teacher as most children will probably be oblivious to it. The teacher may have a hard time picking the books up if the two children are not there. They are good role models for their peers and the younger generations to emulate.
I will suggest that the female teacher can actually call upon the help of her students to help her carry the books. Therefore, she needs not fret about the books falling down again in the future. Probably, she can use the lift too to avoid the chances of such incidents happening again.
Conclusion
The staircase is a passage way that many people need as a form of transport. However, we should be more cautious when using the stairs as it can be dangerous sometimes. Every place we go have a proper code of conduct although there may not be a written set of rules. We should be able to anticipate what will happen if we do not follow the proper code of conduct.
I will suggest the school community to have the stairs divided into two halves where the users going up and down will each take a side. The students should also be educated on the ways they use the stairs to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Well said, “Prevention is better than cure’. We should not act on impulsivity.
