Orientation Camp
HEYHEYHEY GUYS/GIRLS/WOMEN/MEN/OLD MEN/OLD WOMEN (LOL)! I'm finally back with the most anticipated post of the month! MY ORIENTATION CAMP!
5th Jan
In the morning, we screwed up our commands during assembly. HAHA. Actually, only the last part screwed up cos' we were too soft and powerless. The whole camp was actually managed by our PSLs and not the teachers. And the Head/Asst.Head Prefect was overall in charge. The head prefect was super fierce and he acted like a teacher. I would say a younger version of Mr. Parathi since he was a indian too. The PSLs were fierce too. D: Our handphones and wallets were kept by the PSLs throughout the whole camp. Hais. Anyway, we went to the hall to learn our cheers and mass dance next. There were hand signs for each of the cheers. And gosh our PSLs made it deafening. The PSLs said that all the cheers we learnt would be used throughout our RI lifes. Even the sec 4 still use it. The most utilised cheer is called 'Unite'.
(Stamp your right feet once and at the same time use your hands and 'slap' your thighs twice, followed by clapping your hands once. We do this action super fast and throughout the cheer. Anyway, this cheer is super duper fast. If you are first time hearing it, you will sure be baffled by what we are shouting at. xD And of course, deafened.)
Rafflesians(you pronounce it as ra-flea-sians) unite we'll show our might!
(Pause)
We'll show them how Rafflesians fight!
(Pause)
We'll walk to the fight in green black white(Continue next phrase next away)
Cos' ain't nobody's gonna break our stride(Continue next phrase next away)
Cos' we're from we're from Raffles (ooo) Raffles (ahh)! (Continue next phrase next away)
Cos' we're from we're from Raffles (ooo) Raffles (ahh)! (Continue next phrase next away)
We'll fight in the sun, we'll fight in the rain!
(Pause)
We'll fight to give our school a name!
(Pause)
We'll walk from the game with pride and fame(Continue next phrase next away)
Cos' we feel no fear we feel no pain(Continue next phrase next away)
Cos' we're from we're from Raffles (ooo) Raffles (ahh)! (Continue next phrase next away)
Cos' we're from we're from Raffles YEAH!
We have a total of around 5-8 cheers to memorise.
Our mass dance was kind of confusing. I was laughing through the whole dance. HAHA. Anyway, after the cheers and dance, my thighs were red and could see spots of blood internally. Gosh, I slapped too hard. D: Oh yeah, did I mention that I DIDN'T BRING A WATER BOTTLE FOR THIS 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS CAMP? Why wasn't I more prudent when I was packing the bag... It was just fortunate for me that all students were given a shoebag that contained a small water bottle (When I say, small, it's really small) and our camp T-shirt. Thanks Lady Luck! :D
After lunch, I got more bonded with my classmates. Hmm. Ryan, Bing Wei, Wei Jin, Anirudh, Rishi, YOU ROCK :D I made some other good friends that rocked too. But the formers rocked more! :D Ryan ahh, super rich uhh! Lend me your iPhone play la! :D After applying my power of inquiry, I found out that at least 40% to 50% of the pupils in RI came in through DSA.
Next was a walk called 'The Walk of Initiation'. We walk around the school taking off our shirts to blindfold our eyes. Meaning we were walking around the school half-naked. We had to hold on to each other and go over and under different obstacles. Mannn was it tough! Everyone was reluctant when the Head Prefect announced this walk. But after the walk, you actually feel that it wasn't really embarrassing since all were boys.
We went to bathe after that which took us till around 2-3hrs cos' of the queue. At first, 1E (my class) was supposed to use the toilet that was in the gymnasium that had no doors. Upon hearing that, I gasped a breathe of cold air. My heart was palpitating as we were waiting. But after that, our PSLs told us that we change to the swimming pool toilet in the Boarding School. Phew.
After I had finished my bathe, we sat by the swimming pool and listened to our PSLs saying jokes and ghost stories in RI. If you didn't know, RI was built over a cementary. No joke alright. What's worst is that that we were sleeping in tents on the grass-carpet field. And under the fake grass was a track that was known to be haunted. Hais.
We went for a race in the school before the lights were off. We were off to our first station. The clue they gave for the first station was 'A Unique Dutch Ice-cream'. Guess what, they were referring to the AUDItorium. Cos' A Unique Dutch Ice-cream. We only figured this out after our PSLs gave us clues.
Lights were off after that and the tent was super humid and hot. Greenhouse effect? Took around 30mins to sleep. Everyone went into their camp only at around 12.30am. And we have to wake up around 5.30a.m. the next day. I slept around 1a.m.
6th Jan
Needless to say, the morrow, all of us were carrying heavy eyelids and that lasted till around 3p.m. Try doing that! It was absolutely hard work! In the morning after breakfast, we headed off for Bishan Hike where we went all around Bishan in a competition like Amazing Race. After being completely drained, we went back to school. WeiKang's group was the only group in the school that finished the race within the period of time!
We went for an orientation where each class goes into different classrooms to learn about the school. After that, the classes exchange their positions. We learnt how to tie our ties. We learnt about the Discipline in the school (We can actually wear ankle socks!). We learnt the Rafflesian Principle of Honour. And gosh I did regret not learning the Rafflesian Principle of Honour well. We did that every time before our meals. We have to wait for all the classes to finish and after saying the Rafflesian Principle of Honour then we can eat. It takes around 30mins to 1hr everytime. -.- It's really a torment being able to look at food and not being able to eat it. We learnt many things during that activity.
We went to learn our cheers and practice our mass dance again after lunch. Tiring lah!
We went for our bathe again after. Super tired la. At first, we were queuing at the male toilet at the boarding school swimming pool toilet. It was super hilarious. At that time, many people just finished their swimming classes and saw the super long queue at the male toilet. They were dejected after seeing the long queue. When my friends and I were going to reach after waiting for 30 mins, the PSLs call us to change to the gymnasium female toilet which didn't had doors. It was to allow the residents in the boarding school to use the swimming pool toilet as it was after their swimming lessons. We were dragged our heavy feets slowly to the gymnasium female toilet which didn't had doors for the cubicles. Sadly, the ones who were at the front at the swimming pool toilets turned the last at the gymnasium toilet. So, we started queuing all over again. Darn were we hopping mad. When we were reaching the door of the toilet, a girl who had just finished swimming came up to the gymnasium toilet. She didn't know we were using it to bathe. Then she opened the door and saw the boys inside bathing. There wasn't any doors for the cubical... So, she saw-stunned-shocked-shut the door immediately.
We went laughing heartily after she left. Then, I went into the toilet with my friends and sat at the side and waited. Then the PSLs rushed in and call the ones bathing to put on their clothes and us to go out of the toilet immediately. We saw the girl while we were walking out and her eyes were red and swollen. O.O So we forced to go to male gymnasium toilet that had a super duper long queue. What Bad Luck! We were the lasts again. That very defining moment, we saw red and apoplectic with anger. We had already waiting for 1- 1hr 30mins already. Probably it was a blessing in disguise. The PSLs were kind enough to call my friends and I who had changed the venue 2 times to go to the staff toilet in the Junior block. WOAH! The toilet was clean and spick-and-span. It had a place for us to put out clothes when bathing unlike in the swimming pool toilet and the gymnasium toilet. The cubicle was super big and lastly, I was the first to bathe! HAHA.
SO, this is what we call A BLESSING IN DISGUISE! :D
After that we went to have dinner and after dinner...HAHAHA. We went to the auditorium for a movie while waiting the preparation of FRIGHT NIGHT began. At that time, it was already 9pm. Everyone was getting sleepy in the auditorium haha. I nearly fell asleep while watching the movie. SEE HOW TIRED WE WERE! Truly, after this camp, I know to appreciate my sleep vehhh much. D:
While we were watching the movie, suddenly, one of the PSLs stopped the movie and they started telling us the ghosts stories in RI and that we are going to figure out whether they were through later on.
1)There was once a woman who got a miscarriage and donated her foetus to RI. But she didn't know that the foetus was still alive. People in RI tried to save it but it still died. (Sounds impossible eh?) There was a fateful night where there was a boy walking past the bio-lab when he say the foetus floating on the corridor, growing.
But it is true that there is a foetus in the bio-lab. My science teacher says we are going to see it later in the term.
2)There were two boys who wanted to know what was inside the clocktower. So, one night, they went into the clocktower but never came back. (Not logical since the door into the clocktower is locked.)
3)The track that became the field. Previously, before the track became the field, there were a few boys who decided to run cross country in the night. And while they were running, they saw a white figure floating opposite of them. No matter how fast they ran, the figure still floats opposite of them.
While we were watching the movie, 3 by 3, 3 by 3, people went out slowly for the fright night. Finally, when it was my turn, what was left was only 3 other classmates and me. We gay-ed by holding our hands throughout the fright night. It was super exhilarating. The whole school was pitch black, only the lightsticks lay prominent in the blanket of darkness. They tried scaring us at corners but failed. Cos' I spotted them first. LOL.
After the exhausting fright night, SLEEP! Sleep important leh! The night was super hot again. The morrow, we had breakfast and lunch and FINALE!
We had our awfully done mass dance and cheers. FINALLY, FREEDOM! YESH! The whole camp was super tiring. But we made it!
Made a lot of friends during the three days. My class is super enthusiastic about all the things we see. And I got a breaking news to make! 80% are prefects. Among these prefects, 80% are Head/Vice-Head Prefects. Ohhhhh~
Phew. I took 2-3 weeks to finish this post. YAY FINISHED! Darn, homework is voluminous. Japanese is mind-boggling. Time is rushing past me at a super fast rate. I may consider to drop Japanese. The stress for Jap is real intense. All these are piling up, excluding CCAs. Anyway, I'm most probably joining Raffles Voices after failing my talent profiling. *Pity eyes*
I'M DONE! OLEH!
